Day 14Friday, 20th JuneLos Alamos and Santa Fe
We had a quick breakfast, which was not as good as the Marriott's and then I took a few photos - both inside and outside of our suite. Terry phoned my Dad and had a natter, as boys do. Then were were off to Los Alamos. We went into the Bradbury Science Museum, which was very interesting indeed. Entry to the museum was free and we were encouraged to take photos. We were just in time for a showing of a documentary film on the Manhattan project - some really great old footage. The displays in the museum were of great interest - often they were hands-on, with quizzes here and there. I got 100% for the Plutonium quiz!! In the museum shop, I bought a couple rubber ducks and Paul bought me a Little Boy pin ...
We went briefly back to the hotel and then drove into Santa Fe, where we had McDonalds for lunch (wanted HOTP, but nobody else was very keen!). The rest of Terry's big filling fell out - massive! So we next went to Walgreens to buy a temporary filling kit (not that it worked). Finally, we arrived at Santa Fe Plaza and managed to find a parking spot. The weather wasn't very good - and everything looked very dull. The shops were expensive, although we did buy a few small things. We also went inside (another) St Francis of Assisi Cathedral and lit some candles. Then the wind came up, the sky blackened and it started to pour down, so we returned to our car. We weren't sorry. It took us an hour to get back to our hotel; the traffic was really bad (and we got a bit lost!). We rested for a while and then we drove up to the WalMarts at Espanola for a shop. We had microwaved pizzas for supper!!
