Day 14: Tuesday 14th September

To Yosemite

We awoke early to a lovely morning.

We had ordered packed lunches from the Lodge, so we picked these up, after checking out and looked in the shop before setting off through the Park.

We stopped at a few viewpoints along the way, before reaching Grant's Grove shops and visitor's center - and the tree itself!! The trees here were seemingly even bigger than the ones we'd seen before - totally awesome! Sequoia is an extremely beautiful park and we were sorry that we couldn't have spent more time there -

but we were soon leaving and, again, driving through the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas ... which themselves are also extremely beautiful.

We drove to Fresno and then turned off towards Yosemite National Park. Firstly though, we stopped in Oakhurst for a big shop in Raley's!! Then, onwards and upwards to Yosemite.

We stopped off, firstly, at Wawona and looked around the Pioneer History Center, with its reconstructed pioneer houses and its covered bridge over the Merced River. Paul bought ice-creams.

Then we continued on to West Yosemite and Cozy Bear Cottage! It was VERY whimsical indeed!!

Sitting outside on the patio, in the dark, was a bit creepy - so many strange noises coming from the trees!! We had a quick salad for supper and RESTED!!
