Quarter Final
We played Inter Milan on Wednesday 29th November in the first leg. Seems like we could walk the 2nd leg, huh? I confess that, although it was live on Rai, I didn't realise that and watched the David Beckham documentary by accident! Saw the end though - but no goals. Official page report on here. Looking good - but somehow I'm not too excited about this. Perhaps I will be *when* we get to the final. How wonderful that final 2 seasons ago against Fiorentina was!
Semi Final
Wednesday 24th January - the 1st leg at Udinese was called off because of rain and a flooded pitch. We await a new date.
Thursday 1st February - the rearranged 1st leg at Udinese. 2-1 to them.
Nobody was thinking much about the game. (Probably least of all me until 6.30, when I found out we were 24 minutes into the 2nd half - what kind of time was that??). No, nobody much was taking notice of the game - certainly not the Italian media. They carped on and on and on about Sacchi. I wonder what was going through the players' minds then? I know what was going through mine!! I reckon Everton can pass the ball around better than this lot!! They were terrible, from what I saw. I didn't see Amoroso's 5th minute goal, of course (he was all decked up in scarf and gloves) - but I saw Udinese's brace. Disgraceful defending. Really. They were all in a little bunch, like how 5-year-olds play in the park. And why was Buffon obviously being "rested"?? Do goalkeepers really get that worn out?? What's going on? I don't care two hoots about the coppa, quite frankly - but, let's face it, this could be our only chance of qualifying for Europe next season. Anyway, we're 2-1 down. Home leg next week. Not holding my breath.

12th February: Quick update (apologise for the lateness). We are through to the final of the coppa italia. The match report from the Official Page can be found on here. This is a relief - and, if Fiorentina (who we will meet in the final) play anywhere near as badly as they did on Sunday, the coppa is ours. A route into Europe for next season, at least. I cannot say that we played anything other than "averagely" in that 2nd leg though. Doggedly, but averagely. I wasn't impressed.
