Coppa Italia. Parma v Venezia 17th and 24th September 2000
17th September Unfortunately, the only way I had of following this match was via the Italian broadcast on Real Player. Not easy to follow for sure! It is better that you read the report on the official page. Here though is how the teams lined up, times of goals and things:
VENEZIA 1-1 PARMA (HT 1-0)
Scorers: Valtolina 42, Di Vaio 58
Carded: Miceli 8, Rukavina 63
VENEZIA (4-5-1) Brivio; Foglio, Conteh, Da Silva, Bianchi (Maldonado 78); Valtolina, Pedone (Berg 61), Miceli, Rukavina, De Franceschi; Di Napoli (Bertani 72)
Subs not used: Bandieri, Luppi, Marangon, Cento
Coach: Prandelli
PARMA (3-4-1-2) Buffon; Sartor, Thuram, F.Cannavaro; Conceiçao, Lamouchi, Bolano (Baggio 80), Junior; Fuser (Micoud 78); Di Vaio (Amoroso 76), Milosevic
Subs not used: Guardalben, Falsini, P.Cannavaro, Bonazzoli
Coach: Malesani
REFEREE: Bertini (Arezzo)
From that (and from listening to the match) I am beginning to wonder whether Malesani is tiring of Amoroso. Seems that Di Viao made a better shot of it than he would've anyway. I do not know much (anything) about Junior, but he was mentioned time and time again throughout the commentary - whereas Lamouchi was not (sorry, really do not like him). I guess 1-1 is a good enough score to take back to the Tardini next week. I dunno though, I still think that this present Parma side is very hotch-potch. I actually preferred it with Arial Ortega - at least there was a chance of somebody sparkling - I don't see anything but a very dull team here.
24th September
Agh! Unfortunately, I missed the match!! Well, I heard about 15 minutes, that's all - and even that I didn't hear all of! Sound confused? You betcha! I thought the game was to be played in the evening, you see. Was just checking the time of ko only to discover that the game was already almost over! Still, we won it 5-1. Part of the story of the game seemingly 2 penalties to Parma. So we EASILY qualify for the Quarter Final with an aggregate score of 6-2. Sorry, no more details. The Official Site is the place to go. Here is their report.
