Meanie had to wait a very long time before he got to Hollywood. There were cacti and cowboys and horses - but no stars. He yearned for the glitter.
But there was one thing which brightened up his days. He had new friends. And he'd seen pictures of the birth of a bear!!
Meanie had heard rumours that
had been born (in Hollywood) prematurely - had been a very sickly bear and had not lasted a week.He was so
GLAD!!
But there was no need to go to Hollywood to born a bear - there was a place right here in town!
The new bears came home in cardboard boxes. And they showed him photographs.
First of all, the bears were all flat and nothing. And then fluffy innards were pumped into them and a heart was warmed and placed inside. And a bear was born!
Then the newborn bears were given their first showers and fluff-up, before being registered and dressed. What a miracle!
Born had been Smarlie and Picalilli. Smarlie had eyes which were too closely set together (enough said) and PC was one of those clever bears, which wasn't. He wore an Arizona State University T-shirt. Meanie decided that he never wanted to be clever if it meant he had to look so daft - but he wished with all his heart that he had a T-shirt like Picalilli's.
Meanie LOVED his new friends dearly.
