RUTILATED QUARTZ

Quartz specimens with mineral inclusions are very common and make atractive gemstones. Rutilated quartz or sagenite, popularly known as Venus-hair stone, is quartz with needle-like rutile crystals. These may be red, black, or brassy yellow and have a metallic lustre.

And just LOOK at this one!! I don't know where it came from (although I bought it from the US) - but this is a piece of rutilated smoky quartz and it is absolutely MAGICAL!

(Below): You cannot really call this "rutilated quartz" as it is actually run through with black TOURMALINE, so should be referred to as tourmalated quartz . It's very nice anyway!
