Another glorious, sunny day, which started with grumbles about stiff limbs and tight skin and a visit from a dog which I thought, at first, was a coyote (Terry thought it was a wolf!) - it settled down underneath the lounger under the big palm tree. Early lunch and then out and about. First to Alvor, where we got stuck in the streets, missed the church and couldn't park down by the water. But we did park by the praia - miles of beautiful sands, backed by dunes and where there was a circus! ![]() Next stop, Lagos, where we parked by the harbour, crossed over the bridge (after waiting for a couple of tall-masted yachts to pass under) - strolled pased the Senegalese football team (!), selling bracelets and bags - and then back across for chocolate cornettos. We couldn't start the car at first and it was a million degrees in the car! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Praia de Luz next (where Madeleine McCann went missing). A quick walk by the beach (another beautiful one), before deciding to drive to Sagres and the 'end of the world" at Cabo de Sao Vicente. We stopped off first at the very early gothic church at Guadaloupe. ![]() ![]() ![]() Cabo de Sao Vicente is the most south-westerly point in Europe and it was sure windy and far too easy to blow off the high cliffs. ![]() ![]() ![]() We also had a look around the Fortaleza do Beliche before starting our drive back to the villa, via a stop at a wonderful pot shop (where I bought 3 items). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Back in time for the end of the Great British quiz (girl power!), Dr Who and, later, some nostalgic Kurt Cobain. I think we are finding it slightly less relaxing, sitting outside, because we keep expecting a wild dog to come leaping out of the olive grove! |
