VARISCITE
Pseudo-octahedral crystals are only rarely formed. Commonly, it occurs in massive and concretionary habits, and as crusts, or veins. The colour is green. Variscite is a transparent to translucent mineral. It has a vitreous to waxy or dull lustre. It forms where water rich in phosphates has altered aluminium-rich rocks. Variscite is named after the place where it was found, Variscia (Latin for Vogtland), Germany.
