FOSSILISED SEABED

A massive bit of fossilised seabed - approximately 35 million years old. This one came from North Dorset (North Dorset was once a tropical beach!). They're not very evident in this photo - but there are wonderful "sand" ripples diagonally across the specimen.
The slab is currently soaking in a weak bleach solution to try to rid it of lichen! It was once (during Napoleonic times) used as a roof tile apparently!
